A Greeting From Our Principal
September 15, 2008
Dear South Dorchester Parents:
On Tuesday, September 16, 2008 we will again implement an enrichment and intervention (EIP) period for our students in grades 3rd through 8th. The enrichment and intervention period will be scheduled for 47 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday for six weeks during each term.
Our enrichment/intervention period at South Dorchester School will be used to strengthen students’ skills in math, reading, technology, fitness, art, and band. Students have been identified in an area of enrichment or intervention. Data from MSA scores, County Benchmark scores, and teacher recommendations were used for student placement in classes. At the end of each term, teachers will evaluate all students and possibly make recommendations to change a student’s enrichment/intervention class.
During this period we will be able to utilize all available staff in order to have very small class sizes. This will be beneficial to all students as we will be able to give a lot of individual attention to each child.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about the enrichment/intervention program.
Sincerely,
C. Dwayne Abt
Principal
