Each term the staff of SDK-8 School recognizes students for excellence in work habits, citizenship, and honor roll.
- Principal’s List: To receive Principal’s List status, a student must earn all A’s and B’s on their report card (O’s and G’s for first grade) and satisfactory ratings for all work habits and citizenship segments of the report card. Handwriting will be a factor.
- Star Citizens: To be eligible for Star Citizen recognition, students must earn a satisfactory rating for all work habits and citizenship segments of the report card. Handwriting will be a factor.
Perfect Attendance: Students will be recognized on their report card each term for perfect attendance that term and awarded at the end of the year for perfect attendance for the entire year.
Each term students who have received all S’s on their report card and have not had a formal discipline referral to the office will be awarded a Gold Card and will become an official member of the Gold Card Club. Students are awarded each term with a special activity, and special snack, and a homework pass. Students who make the Gold Card Club every term will be invited to attend a special field trip at the end of the school year. Students are reminded of these incentives often during announcements, through the newsletter, and by posters displayed throughout the school.
Each week your child’s teacher will recognize a “Student of the Week” from the students in their classroom. Students will be recognized during the morning announcements, receive a ribbon, as well as have special privileges in the classroom. The criteria needed for your child to be awarded this honor is as follows:
- Deals with problems in a constructive manner
- Is courteous and respectful to others
- Practices good sportsmanship
- Obeys school rules
- Exhibits self control
- Respects property
- Works well with others
- Speaks appropriately in a variety of situations
- Completes class work and homework on time
